It is part of the Orlando.Kissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area. Maitland is home to Central Floridas only full time independent movie theater, Enzian Theater, itself home to the Florida Film Festival. Maitland is also home to the Maitland Art Center (formerly the Research Studio, 1937), which is listed on the National Record of Historic Places for its unique Mayan/Aztec sculptures, murals, and bas reliefs.
